One of the largest interior spaces in the Nova Garon level, this Intelligence hub, served as public space for assigned agents and troops as well as a data hub. Originally intelligence gathered from droids returning from prisoner interrogations, would dock on the hubs walls and upload their information via data-stems on the walls. These would be uploaded into a massive databank of Imperial records, and transmitted to connected facilities. The hub would also receive countless intelligence reports from across the galaxy. All these transmissions would be encoded and decoded, with their signal process monitored and broken down via the red data encryption viewscreens on the walls. The upper section originally was inspired by the interior of Vader's meditation chamber-my sense that his chamber would be a similar kind of data hub on a smaller scale. We simplified the panel designs later. The bottom section of the chamber was somewhat unfinished, the red structural elements inspired by the girders of a half finished superstructure like we see in Return of the Jedi. Much of the interior hall work for Return of the Jedi, even from unreleased sequences was a big inspiration for me, and much of these i put my head space firmly in 1983 or 1984- as if working on a connected sequel to Jedi. (even though Survivor is many years before on the timeline)
